Cloth and memory 2

The cloth and memory 2 exhibition is curated by  Lesley Millar, and is an exhibition of 23 international artists responding to the site Salts Mill. The exhibition is currently on display in the Spinning room at Salt Mill in Saltaire. Salts Mill  is a building with such an interesting history which makes it the perfect place for  site responsive project to take place. When I visited the exhibition I found it to be incredibly interesting and inspirational to see how each artist had responded to the site. I found that each artist responded in either a very personal way; drawing on a memory from their own past that the mill had conjured back up into their minds, or in a very site specific way, using the memories of the mill itself to draw on for inspiration. The exhibition was a brilliant way to be able to see textile artists from all over the world each responding and working in a completely differently way to the same site.
